Take time to smile!

I thought I would share this email I received today. It is from my husband so I know he is only joking.............................isn't he??

If Mike, Dave and John go out, they will affectionately refer to each other as Fat Boy, Godzilla and Four-eyes.

EATING OUT
When the bill arrives, Mike, Dave and John will each throw in £20, even though it's only for £32.50.
None of them will have anything smaller and none will actually admit they want change back.

When the girls get their bill, out come the pocket calculators.

MONEY
A man will pay £2 for a £1 item he needs.
A woman will pay £1 for a £2 item that she doesn't need but it's on sale .

BATHROOMS
A man has six items in his bathroom: toothbrush and toothpaste, shaving cream, razor, a bar of soap, and a towel from M&S.

The average number of items in the typical woman's bathroom is 337.
A man would not be able to identify more than 20 of these items.

ARGUMENTS
A woman has the last word in any argument.
Anything a man says after that is the beginning of a new argument.

Women love cats.
Men say they love cats, but when women aren't looking, men kick cats.

A man never worries about the future until he gets a wife.

SUCCESS
A successful man is one who makes more money than his wife can spend.
A successful woman is one who can find such a man.

MARRIAGE
A woman marries a man expecting he will change, but he doesn't.
A man marries a woman expecting that she won't change, but she does.

DRESSING UP
A woman will dress up to go shopping, water the plants, empty the bins, answer the phone, read a book, and get the post.
A man will dress up for weddings and funerals.

NATURAL
Men wake up as good-looking as they went to bed.
Women somehow deteriorate during the night.

OFFSPRING
Ah, children. A woman knows all about her children.
She knows about dentist appointments and romances, best friends, favourite foods, secret fears and hopes and dreams.

A man is vaguely aware of some short people living in the house.

THOUGHT FOR THE DAY
A married man should forget his mistakes.
There's no use in two people remembering the same thing.

Just a quick visit to say hi! I have a couple of layouts to show you but they have not been photographed yet so that will have to wait till later in the week.

It's nearly time to register again for Scrap-a-ganza. I really love these retreats as they are great fun and the teachers that Heidi gets there are some of the best in the industry. I know some people have been saying you should support the retreats and the retailers in this country. I totally know where they are coming from....as you know I am a retailer and tutor myself and I very much agree.

However when I pay out good money for classes I want to be taught by top class tutors who inspire me in the class itself and also when I get home. I do not want to be shown how to do a layout / project which I have probably done myself in the past.

I must admit to being disappointed and uninspired with what the majority of British 'names' have to offer. They are all very much of a muchness and I wish some of the new, young crafters would come through. There must be some in this country. Perhaps it's just me never having heard of them. It just seems that all the same people get chosen for design teams so there is nothing new being shown.

So come on , let's see the new young talent that is out there!

Scrummy ribbon box.

Well I have had great fun this afternoon making up this gorgeous ribbon box from Kaisercrafts. This little goodie came as part of my Christmas box from some amazing friends.

I gave it a couple of coats of acrylic paint then used some papers from Basic Grey's Mellow range. With ribbons and blooms it looks good enough to eat!

I used some rub ons to decorate the front as I felt it needed something but my doodling would have just ruin a lovely item! I think it worked out really well. The whole box has been covered in modge podge and stuck together with glossy accents. It should last a lifetime now. Thank you girls for such a lovely gift.

Maybe a bit of good news!

Well after the bombshell of Basic Grey being sold by Do Crafts being dropped yesterday there may be a bit of good news.

Like me, many of my retailer colleagues were totally aghast by this news and between us we have inundated Basic Grey with emails explaining how, in our view, this would be a very bad move for the company. Luckily BG are a company who listens.

Seemingly it is not a 'done deal' with Do Crafts despite what we were lead to believe. All they want is to get their fantastic products out to the UK scrappers and card makers but they obviously do not want them devalued. It is hoped that between us all we can come up with some suitable suggestions of how this can happen. I really hope we can get this sorted so that many of the independent retailers will be able to carry a good range of Basic Grey products which, in turn, means more and more of the crafting fraternity will have a greater choice and be inspired to produce some amazing work!

Fingers crossed!

What a disaster!

Seemingly according to some other blog it looks like the amazing Basic Grey range is going to be stocked and sold by Do crafts! Yes, Do crafts...those who brought us the 'top class' papermania range, cheap as greasy chips and just as nasty! What a quick way to devalue a stunning range. I cannot believe that the folks at BG are thinking straight if they have made this decision.

I adore the whole Basic Grey range. I have bought every single one of their paper collections and some of them I just can't live without...Blush, Figgy Pudding, Lily Kate.....gorgeous! I get excited just thinking about them. The products are well designed and most of the papers are a 'must have'. However, I think, linking them with cheap and cheerful Do Crafts is a BIG mistake. Bulk buyers Do Crafts will get them for a knock down price and many of the retailer's out there will struggle to compete. Basic Grey will be in every garden centre in the country..... Crikey even my local 50p factory shop sells Papermania......and whole name of Basic Grey will end up going very much down market.

Shame!

Just a quickie and a bit of a moan!

Well it's Thursday evening, there is nothing on the box and I don't have a creative bone in my body tonight. So no scrapping for me. I have had a busy week and think I am just a bit over tired so I am not going to push it.

The sale is still on and loads of folk have been visiting and buying lots of scrummy stash and getting some fantastic bargains so that has been great...not done much for the tiredness levels though, packing orders till late at night! I don't know how my friend Lily at 'Scrap shed' does it. She is always busy.......it would kill me I think to be that busy day in and day out!

I've bought some of the new Basic Grey Two Scoops range from the lovely Jillybeans and I think it is at the post office waiting for me. I had one of the red cards through the door...even though I was in at the time!

Talking of Two Scoops, I was a bit gobsmacked ( and to be honest some of the other retailers are furious) to find that this brand new range is being sold at reduced price on one site......even in someone's bloody sale. How ridiculous is that! I know we all like a bargain but that sort of thing just devalues the whole business. I don't think Basic Grey would be too pleased either if they found out!

Just seen the list of some of the teachers for the next Scrap-a-ganza in June. Looks like it could be fun so I may just have to have a trot over there!

Happy scrapping!

Will I ever be a good blogger?

Oh I don't know. I feel I am far too erratic to blog and I also wonder what on earth I have to say that others would find remotely interesting. However I do get hounded by various people to get my act together and blog at least one a week as they are interested in what I get up to! (I think they need to get out more personally but hey ho!) So one of my many new year resolutions is to be a better blogger....or at least a more regular blogger! The others are the usual rubbish of lose some weight, get more organised, sort out the finances etc.....etc....etc....

Oh, one resolution I have made which I probably will keep is the '10 a month challenge'. This has come from discussions on the delicious new forum Craft Diner...find it
here if you haven't been already... A few of us have decided to do 10 craft related things every month. I'll probably stick to just doing layouts, cards and mini books but others are aiming for more adventurous things. I've managed 6 layouts up to now and it's only the 6th. You are very welcome to come and join us on the forum. It has a lovely cosy atmosphere and we are intent on it staying that way....not growing too big that people get lost. It's also about all sorts of crafts not just scrapbooking. So come and join us and make that 10 a month resolution!

Last few days in the 2007 clearance sale at the shop. I desperately needed to make some room as I have a few plans for this year and can't get going with them until I have some space. Loads of kind people have helped me out (he he he) and quite a few have even come back again for more! I can't hold the prices down much longer so if you want a bargain get down to the
Castle now!!

These are a couple of layouts I have completed this afternoon. The photographs were taken when Helen and I went on the 'mini Scrap-a-ganza' in November. We made the time to visit the town which was nearby. It was just so lovely and totally different to what I was expecting.

As you can see they are both 3 photo layouts which quite a lot of people find difficult to do. To be honest I don't find them any more difficult than every other layout I do. Some layouts just fall into place and others seem to take me ages!

Anyway off to do another layout now. At this rate I will have time to spare this month with my challenge. More time to blog then I suppose!
